Egypt History
Since 1882, Egypt has attempted to gain independence. The British took control of Egypt because of the Suez Canal Crisis. Later in history British gave Egypt independence but the British still had control. Egypt did end up with full independence by 1952 by Gamal Abdul Nassar. In 1956, Nassar announced that the Suez Canal was to be nationalized. This ended up with an invasion of Egypt by Britain, France, and many other countries.
This conflict and others have been very costly for Egypt including the Arab- Israeli conflict. Egypt has lost most there land cause of these conflicts, also many peoples lives. Terrorism to this day in Egypt is still very heavy between the Countries in the Middle East and there hard to trust with what has happened in the past.
Egypt Situation
During
18 days during February in 2011, 18 days of protesting the government
resulted in hundreds dead. President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown from
the Egyptian government on February 11th, 2011. Field
Marshal Tantaw and the Egyptian military took control of the country.
Since Tantaw took control, Egypt's economy has toppled. On June 30th,
2012, President Mohammed Mursi took control of Egypt. Mursi is an
Islamic President.
Recently, a movie was released from California depicting
Muhammad as a 'Bloodthirsty sex crazed monster.' Two private satellites
in Egypt picked up the movie and told Egyptians that all Americans were
planning to make similar movies. This
really pissed off the Egyptians to a point of retaliation. About 2,000
Egyptians gathered in Cairo, in front of the US Embassy. A small number
broke into the embassy, and lit the American flag on fire. A black
flag was then raised which said, "There is no
God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet."
